About Us

Meadowlark Farms and Training Centre is located on the east side of Calgary, Alberta; just off the TransCanada Highway and a short 20 minute drive to the new Balzac racetrack scheduled in open in late 2008. The owners, Carl and Karen, have combined 25 years horse experience, the majority of it with Standardbreds and, after taking a few years off, are ready and able to care for your performance horses. Quality care is provided by Carl and Karen who over see all of the daily operations. Every horse cared for becomes part of the Meadowlark Farms family.

Upon purchasing the property, Meadowlark Farms received its name due to the large number of resident meadowlarks. In fact, a meadowlark was the first bird that welcomed Carl and Karen when viewing the property.

At Meadowlark Farms we provide high quality hay consisting of an alfalfa/timothy mixture designed specifically for horses. Nutrition and safety are of the utmost importance. A vaccination program, regular de-worming and a custom mixed feed are provided to ensure a healthy environment for its residents.

We offer boarding of broodmares, yearlings, weanlings, turnouts and lay-ups. Whether your need is long term, seasonal or short term, we are sure your horses would like to call Meadowlark Farms home. We also provide sales prep and representation for yearling and mixed sales throughout the year. Transportation is available upon request.
